The Indian Stamp Act, 1899 (Act No. 2 of 1899) (in its application to the State of Arunachal Pradesh) (Amendment) Act, 2018

The Indian Stamp Act, 1899 (Act No. 2 of 1899) (in its application to the State of Arunachal Pradesh) (Amendment) Act, 2018 made the following amendments to the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 as it applies to the State of Arunachal Pradesh:

  • Increased the stamp duty on instruments of lease of land from Rs. 5 per Rs. 100 of rent to Rs. 20 per Rs. 100 of rent.
  • Increased the stamp duty on instruments of agreement for sale of land from Rs. 2 per Rs. 100 of consideration to Rs. 5 per Rs. 100 of consideration.
  • Increased the stamp duty on instruments of mortgage of land from Rs. 2 per Rs. 100 of the amount secured to Rs. 5 per Rs. 100 of the amount secured.
  • Added a new section 3A, which provides for a stamp duty of Rs. 500 on every instrument of gift of land.
